What a night of boxing!!!

A bunch of friends and I went to se Art’s fight last night at Club Nokia put on Oscar DeLa Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions  and we were treated to an amazing display of boxing put on by Art.  He controlled the entire fight and dropped his opponent 3 times before the ref stepped in and called off the fight.

The crowd was great and the atmosphere was fun. A perfect night for boxing.  The fight was attended by a number of HyeFighters and it was great seeing all the guys come out and support each other.

My good friend HyeFighter Art “Lionheart” Hovhanissyan is ready and eager for his fight tonight in Los Angeles at the Nokia Club across the street from the Staples Center.  He will be fighting on the Golden Boy Promotions event and with a win here (which I am certain he will get) his career will get the exposure it needs to take off.

Art has always been a crowd favorite because his fighting style is exciting and appealing to all fans.  He has speed, power and slick moves.  He can bang with the best of them as well as box like an Olympic champion.  This will be a huge fight for him and we will all be there cheering him on to victory.

With the beginning of the new school year, the after school recreational programs have also started.  This year< i have volunteered to help out and my first assignment was to look for and make recommendations on where to purchase the trophies.  It seems that in previous years not much thought had been given to this and there were a lot of bad mistakes that occured because of it.  For instance, 2 years ago, the after school sports leagu received a shipment of golf trophies instead of Basketball Trophies.  Needless to say this led to a last minute scramble and twice the amount of money was spent to remedy this situation.

This past example has led everyone on the committee to be extra careful and cautious for this year.  That is why we are ordering our soccer trophies at the beginning of the season to make certain that if there is an error in shipping, we have ample time to make the change and have our trophies in time for the end of the season.  We all remember how it was when we were younger,  the trophies were what we were all playing for and waited all season long to get our hands on the next year’s trophies.  Things haven’t changed.  Kids today are the same way and we as parents and coaches understand and will do what it takes so that our children are not disappointed.

Soccer season is about to start for both of my sons and that means getting them geared up with the right soccer equipment so they can be both comfortable and protected.  The problem I have is that the stores carry only low end or high end equipment.  I need more of the middle end type equipment.  And for this I have found that nothing is better than online shopping.  Additionally, I want to use an online service that has already done the price comparisons for me.  I do not have the time to go thru the price comparison process.

Obviously, my biggest purchases are the cleats and shinguards. Which are purchased new every season.  On line shopping for these items or any other soccer gear, has many advantages, the biggest of which is the ability to find the best deal.  When purchasing these types of items I look to do a lot of side by side comparisons to see what new technologies are implemented in the new equipment lines and decide if it is something useful or worth having.  Additionally, the selection of available items are so much more on line than in stores and the best part about that is that you dont have a pesky salesperson trying to sell you the most expensive item as opposed to the one you need.

The online shopping site I use should list all the available sales and make it easy for me to find what I am looking for.

I am a huge sports fan.  However, it is only recently that I have discovered football….as in soccer.  And, once I learned about the game, it actually became very very fun to watch.  I think what helped make it fun was the fact that there are so many games on any given day and, realistically, there is no “off season”.  The game is played worldwide 12 months a year.

One of the reasons I like sports so much, is the fact that I can always make the game more interesting by wagering on the outcomes and performances.  Football, in this case is great for this.  All I need to do is check the football fixtures to see what the bookmakers are thinking, place my wager and check the livescore periodically to monitor what is happening.  And, because there are so many games every day, there is never a dull moment.  The excitement is very high and the quality of the game is extraordinary.

I really believe that this game is about to take off and become huge in the US very soon.  Football is the world’s sport and we here in the states are slowly starting to see this and changing our preception of the game.

The economy is “pretending” to get better…yes, I did say pretending because I am not convinced the worst is yet over.  I think the banking industry will be hit hard next.  As such, I am telling anyone and everyone who listens to purchase gold.  As the volatility of the financial system is on such a hairline trigger, the only thing that makes sense is to purchase gold coins because the monetary system is still based on and backed up with gold.

When you purchase gold coin you are actually investing in the value of money at the time of the investment.  As money becomes less valued, the product backing it becomes more valuable. Hence, the growth in your investment.  In simpler terms, the amount of gold you can purchase with X amount today, will be more than the amount of gold you can purchase with that same X amount in the future.

If you look at history and try to identify those investors who came thru recessions unscaved, you will soon realize the commonality between these types of investors.  More often than not, you will see that gold was the investment vehicle for them all.

I am a huge sports fanatic.  When it comes time to watch TV, my first choice is always SPORTS.  However, regular cable tv is horrible for showing sporting events from across the country.  College football is a great example of this.  Cable TV stations try to give “fair” amount of air time to all conferences.  But being from California, I really don’t care at all for games or teams from the north east.  I want my Pac 10 football.  This is why I switched to Direct TV.

With Direct Satellite TV, I can watch all the Pac 10 conference games that are scheduled and not be forced to watch a conference game from some other conference.  And, since college football season is right around the corner, you know I will be ordering Direct TV in California so I can watch all my games.  I have my Saturdays and Sundays planned already. My weekends will consist of watching  football, football and more football.  Last year, I got into fantasy football, and learned a lot.  So this year I will need to follow all the games that my fantasy players are in so I can get better and have a more of a routing interest in the game.

I got my Direct TV and all I am waiting for now is for the season to start.  The pre-season games were all great and gave me a taste of what I can expect in the next few months and I am so looking forward to it.

Summer of 2009 is almost gone.  The good thing is that I was able to do everything I wanted to this summer.  And, the highlight of it was my Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations.  This was the most fun I have had in a very long time.  All I did the whole 5 days was nothing but sleep, eat, relax and play golf.  I was lucky enough to get a very reasonably priced Myrtle Beach Golf Package which included room & board & fare fees.  The golf courses were immaculate and very beautiful and played well to all level of golfers.  The people and their Southern Hospitality really added a whole new meaning to “attending to your every needs”.  There is absolutely NOTHING i would change about the entire trip.

Myrtle Beach Golf, in my opinion, is something anyone who plays golf MUST try at least once.  If you love golf, you will love it even more, and if you are the occasional golfer, you will soon be reminded of why you started playing the game.  I really can not describe it well enough to do it justice.  This is something that you just NEED to do for yourself.  So, get on a computer and look up Myrtle Beach Golf Package and book your time and go.  It really is as simple as that.

Bad news – Summer is almost over……Good News – NFL is right around the corner!!!

I have a feeling this upcoming NFL season will be one of the best all around seasons in a long time.  There were a slew of great college impact players that have been drafted and are in ideal situations to start helping their teams from the beginning of the season.  I really feel this season will be very competitive and we will all be in for a treat.  Because of this, I need to now subscribe to the nfl sunday ticket so that I can watch all the good games I want and not have to rely on the networks to show mostly regional games.

I know that in the past the nfl sunday ticket price seemed kind of high, but if you really think about it, it is not a bad pricing system considering all the games that are available to you.  Just check out the nfl sunday ticket schedule and you will be reminded of that fact.  You will have the opportunity to watch almost any game you desire, from any conference and any division.  You can literally spend the entire Sunday in front of your television watching professional football.  I know I will be.

One of the best gifts I received last year was Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets.  This was a gift from my brother when we visited them for Christmas last year.  I enjoyed the show very much and also came to the realization that gifting show tickets is actually a great idea!!!

So this year, I will be giving my niece Taylor Swift Tickets for her birthday. And my uncle will be receiving Chicago Theatre Tickets.  This idea of giving show tickets as gifts is really easy and very appreciated by the recepient simply because its a gift that you can actually talk about.  And, if the show you see is something you are really interested in or a fan of, you will probabbly talk about it for years to come.  How many times have you heard people talk about a show they had seen 5, 10, even 20 years ago?  I think this is something that will stay with the person for a very long time.

From a gift giver prespective, it is nice to know that your gift is really appreciated and makes the recepient feel good even if its only for a couple of hours.  Now if you really want to make a statement, you can buy premier tickets or the best seats in the house and give them the full VIP treatment.  Now that will definately be something!!!
