Wow, how crazy was the 2009 NFL Draft.  I mean come on….did you see the Raider’s pick? and how about when Malaluga was drafted?  I just can not understand how these NFL GM’s get to keep their jobs year after year of making mistakes by picking the wrong players. I know the NFL is a business and the owners need to make sure that their fans buy tickets to see their teams play.  However, I really feel that the best way to sell tickets is to have your team win and contend for the championship every year.

As if the college football season wasn’t enough for NFL teams to see the and evaluate the quality of the players, there is the combine as well as the private school workouts that the football players go thru so that their talents can be evaluated.  Even after all this, some of the selections made at the NFL Draft are mind boggling. I guess there are the safe picks and the risky picks.  But some picks are just stupid.  Look at all of the “busts” from the first 2 rounds of the past 3 to 5 years.  There are names on that list which were great college players that really couldnt amount to much of NFL players.  I think it is very important to realize that the college game and the NFL game are completely different and world’s apart.

However, the one observation I have made, is that a good athelete will be able to fit in and become productive no matter what the surroundings.  So my only word of advise to these NFL GM’s is “pick the good atheletes” and you wont go wrong.
